If you wear glasses - you may be able to "look" forward to better eyesight this year :-) I'd like to share the story of how I improved mine with tapping - but first, the reason it occurred to me to do so is because I wanted to let you know about Peta Stapleton's upcoming clinical trial on EFT for eyesight improvement. It hadn't occurred to me that my eyesight was the reason I was having headaches all the time, too. My first trip to the eye doctor confirmed that I needed reading glasses.
I was advised that my eyesight would probably continue to deteriorate and that I should get my eyes tested every time I noticed eyestrain or headaches. This proved to be the case about every two years. Almost like clockwork, I would notice eyestrain and headaches, go in and out of my eyes tested, and come out with a slightly stronger prescription for reading glasses. As a student on limited means of support, it was annoying that my slightly complicated prescription (one eye had astigmatism), meant I couldn't buy cute cheap drugstore reading glasses. Luckily, I was earning as a writer-producer for television when, 10 years later, I was advised by my ophthalmologist that I really should be wearing distance glasses as well. Now, I needed two pairs of glasses and two prescriptions updated every two years. But the biggest below was when he told me that I needed prescription sunglasses as well because I was driving the bright LA freeways with regular sunglasses and that was causing me to squint in a way that was giving me early crows feet at the corners of my eyes. Three pairs of glasses every two years!! If you have never had to wear glasses you don't know the horror of finding out how much a simple plastic frame (not the best looking ones, either!) costs - never mind the lenses. But, there was nothing I could do about it other than look for good deals on frames online when I needed new frames and, just keep getting new lenses as long as my frames were holding up. Every. Two. Years. About 10 years ago, I noticed with dismay that my eyes were uncomfortable unless I put my distance glasses on upon waking. Now, I was an actual full time glasses wearer. That was around the time that I began my EFT practitioner training and began the significant amount of tapping I had to do for my 100 hours of practicum to get certified. In hindsight (sorry for all the puns!), that was the worst my eyesight ever got. A couple of years later, when I went for an eye test, the prescription had not changed. Turns out my eye strain was from scratched lenses. New lenses, no more eye strain. And I noticed I didn't need to put my glasses on upon waking any more. Was it the new lenses that I was being more careful with? Four years passed, during which time I had noticed that a couple of times I had forgotten to put on my glasses to go to the local shops for a morning coffee and didn't have any eye discomfort, which was odd. When the eyestrain eventually returned, I thought ok this is it. Time to bump the prescription. In I went. But this time...it was a different story. The eye doctor had my file in his hands after the exam and said the reason for my eye strain was that I was on WAY too strong a prescription. TWICE as strong as I needed. He opened my file, scowling a little, mumbled "who gave you that last prescription anyway? -" only to discover it was HIM. Visibly taken aback, he flipped another page. "Well who did it the time before-?" Again, it was him. He stared at the file, confused. "Is it that thing where my astigmatism is getting corrected by aging that I was told would happen eventually?" I asked, trying to be helpful. "No. That's not it," he said. He finally looked at me, perplexed. "Your deterioration has gone significantly backwards," he said. "I haven't seen this before. I don't know what it is, to be honest. But I need to give you a much weaker prescription." Pretty sure I know what it was. The only thing it could be? By the time of that exam, I had logged hundreds of hours of tapping - never ON my eyesight, but, just like with my spider phobia (another time, I promise), good old borrowed benefits had kicked in. Since then, my eyesight seems to have stabilised. I have not had a change in my prescription since that 2x step back in 2019 and have only had new lenses when old ones got too scratched. I wear prescription reading glasses for the computer, with glare protection, but can read pretty tiny print without them now and often don't bother going to look for them. I wear prescription distance glasses and sunglasses for driving and sometimes for TV - but I have coped ok the couple of times I had to drive home from Sydney (2 hours) at night without glasses because I left my non-tinted ones behind...
